While the title of this colouring book may lead you to believe that you'll be colouring an endless amount of birds and butterflies...don't worry...you will be! BUT it's NOT bleak and boredom won't set in. There are some bird species in here that aren't often featured in colouring books. And there are other critters thrown in there to peek one's interest! Birds and Butterflies is a nicely illustrated book, containing smooth, crisp linework, however, it doesn't lose that hand drawn feel that we all know and love when it comes to good books. I paired this book review with a product review of Sakura Gelly Roll pens SOLELY because of a single black background page in Chadwick's book. I thought it would be PERFECT to show off the Moonlight gellies! Let's dive on in shall we?!

Adult colouring really came to the spotlight because of this "Queen of Ink" right here, Johanna Basford and her fabulous, intricate colouring books, Enchanted Forest and Secret Garden (along with all of her other products!) She takes you on a journey through an inky wonderland filled with flowers, leaves (SO MANY LEAVES!), and enchanting, woodland animals; pages waiting to be filled with lots of colour! These are by far my absolute favorite books to colour in and I'm here to show you all what Johanna has created for us coloristas, as well as show you that colouring in the lines isn't the only thing you can do with these books! Wendy Piersall, an artist with over 17 years of professional design experience, has been drawing mandala coloring pages as the founder of the Woo! Jr. Kids Activities website for kids since 2009. Looks like she wanted to try her hand at switching her audience to adults, as colouring books for adults are on the rise. Here are her two quite popular books, featured in news segments and articles, Coloring Flower Mandalas and Coloring Dream Mandalas.
Edwina McNamee has brought a wonderfully different style to the colouring world. Her first ever adult colouring book, Wings & Things, features beautifully drawn feathered friends and winged creatures. Her smooth bold linework and eclectic style of drawing is just lovely and a breath of fresh air when it comes to hand drawn colouring books. Unicorns, owls, bats, and bugs are waiting to be brought to life with colour. That's where you all come in!
This is probably my favorite out of all of Theo's books! Mer World Problems depicts the every day problems mermaids have in the deep blue sea. Whether it be not fitting in with the freshies, or having bad "shell service", it seems Theo really understands what mermaids go through. Maybe she secretly is one, and if that's the case I want to be her new best friend LOL. Let's dive into this review shall we! **Click the photos to bring you to the product to purchase :)** I was so excited to receive this book from Theo. I had seen previews of some of the pages, but those didn't do the book any justice. When I started flipping through the pages, I was literally laughing out loud. Theo has quite the imagination and that imagination made one entertaing colouring book! As a bonus, I'll be reviewing Cretacolor's Karmina colored pencils! They went extremely well in this book and I was very satsified with their quality. You'll definitely be adding both of these to your shopping carts once you finish this review :D |
The "Colorista"I'm Kourtney, and I'm a mother of two litle girls and the wife of a Navy sailor. I review colouring books and products for publishers and art supply companies to give my Coloristas a guide to buying and growing their collections. And of course I love to colour any chance I get (mostly when the kids are asleep!)
