In a head to head battle, I'm putting Faber Castell Polychromos and Prismacolor Premier pencils up against each other in the most comprehensive review you have ever seen, and hopefully in doing this, I can show you the pros and cons of each pencil, while ultimately supporting my opinion of which is a better quality pencil. I have no affiliation with either company. This is purely my opinion and my personal preference, however the pictures and explanations you will read and see are factual unbiased results and evidence about each pencil brand. Faber-Castell had sent me their 60 set of Polychromos pencils to work with, and while I already had Prismacolor pencils, this review is completely unbiased. Each pencil has their strengths, however there is an obvious winner coming out of this review. Here we go!
Within this colouring book lies over 50 images of nature waiting to be coloured in! From flowers to sea creatures, De-ann Black brings us hours of relaxation. The theme of this colouring book is based on several of her books including The Flower Hunter’s Cottage, The Beemaster’s Cottage, The Tea Shop, Faeriefied, Poison-Wynd Moths, The Sewing Bee By The Sea and Champagne Chic Lemonade Money. Hand drawn, Black joins artists like Marotta and Basford in the simple yet effective pen and ink technique.
While Manuscript Pen Company Ltd is widely known for their elegant and traditional calligraphy ink cartridge pens and wax/seals, they are rapidly growing their range of products for crafters and hobbyists, like us coloristas! They were brilliant enough to send me their Colour Creative Brush and Broad portrait markers, as well as their Calli CReative Italic set of markers and their metallic set. And you might notice that adorable dog in the picture---that is Crumble! I think he needs some colour don't you??

The third book in Anastasia's series is Birds, featuring every bird you could possibly imagine, giving you endless colour combination opportunities. Match a swan with it's true colour identity, or go outside the colour box and give its plume a bright neon colour! It's truley left up to you! As you can see I gave my flock of birds quite the colour scheme (with my signature hand made cloud stencil and pastels of course added to the background!) Her books really leave no room for disappointment! They're simply lovely to colour in. However, the last product that Staedtler gave me for review were their triangular barreled colored pencils, and with these, I was a bit disappointed with the quality.

A second book in Catris' Colour Me Mindful Series, Tropical features loads of plants and animals of the rainforests and tropical climates (and even a delicious tropical looking drink, YUM!). Looking at the illustrations, I couldn't help but think how gorgeous they would look coloured in pencil because of all the shading and blending opportunities, so here I decided to utilize the second product given to me by Staedtler---Ergosoft colored pencils.

Anastasia Catris, a freelance illustrator from Wales, has brought us a trilogy of conveniently sized colouring books, perfect for travel. For every book, I'll be including a Staedtler product that was given to me for review as well. These books are perfect for fineliners and felt tips and the Underwater themed one is my favorite out of all three books so I'll be doing this combination together in one awesomely colourful review!
I'm Kourtney, and I'm a mother of two litle girls and the wife of a Navy sailor. I review colouring books and products for publishers and art supply companies to give my Coloristas a guide to buying and growing their collections. And of course I love to colour any chance I get (mostly when the kids are asleep!)
