When I sit down to colour, sometimes I go blank as to what palette I want to use. I ask myself what will look good together? Do these colours match? Is this the right shades of blue? NO I'll use purple, wait maybe red! And when I can't answer those questions and I'm jumping back and forth between pencils, I think of what's around me; the palettes and colour combinations that we see every single day but fail to think, OH those will be nice colours to use for that mandala I've been meaning to colour! And that's exactly what I LOVE doing. I draw inspiration of colour from things I see and then I don't have the unsurety if the colours will look nice together. It's all right there on that bicycle, or what you're cooking for dinner, or even that vibrant bouquet of flowers sitting RIGHT on your dining room table. Sometimes, references are a wonderful guide to help your creation flourish into something beautiful that you never thought imaginable. So next time you have a colour block, walk around your house, go outside, walk down your block, or hey, even search around the web. You'll be amazed at what palettes you'll find in the most unexpecting places. And sometimes the unexpected, is the most obvious.
Happy colouring everyone!
