Here's a great technique I've come to learn from colouring, a little something called rendering-- otherwise known as cross-hatching!
Colouring in one direction, especially with coloured pencils, shows the line strikes as well as the white gaps that weren't filled in that sometimes we don't even realize.
But wait until you see the comparison between what a rendered coloured area and a non-rendered area looks like next to each other.
You'll never colour in a single direction ever again!
