Happy Colouring!

Within this colouring book lies over 50 images of nature waiting to be coloured in! From flowers to sea creatures, De-ann Black brings us hours of relaxation. The theme of this colouring book is based on several of her books including The Flower Hunter’s Cottage, The Beemaster’s Cottage, The Tea Shop, Faeriefied, Poison-Wynd Moths, The Sewing Bee By The Sea and Champagne Chic Lemonade Money. Hand drawn, Black joins artists like Marotta and Basford in the simple yet effective pen and ink technique. I like most of the images, however there are some that are a bit too abstract for my taste, as I'm not a fan of colouring geometric type patterns. The paper is of decent quality but markers and fineliners will bleed through. Luckily this is a one side printed colouring book, so as long as you put a piece of paper behind the image you're working on, you'll be fine. The paper has a little bit of tooth, with a bright white hue which I love (i hate when paper is off white or cream coloured). Pencils go along wonderful in this book so I highly recommend using themand not markers. Layering and shading is a breeze when you have the right amount of tooth in a paper. Even though it's called Flower Hunter, don't let the title deter you because of all the flower themed books on the market now. There's far more than just your typical flower images to colour. Take a look! I really enjoyed colouring in this book, and I know you all will too! It was great way to unwind after a long day, and I loved how my seahorse turned out. I added the waves in the background with pastels, and voila! An hour flew by and I didn't even notice! Get your copy of Flower Hunter on Amazon!

Kourtney, I am in awe of your seahorse. I would definitely frame it and hang it in my bathroom! I have a question.. What do you mean by "the paper has a little bit of tooth?"

"Roughness" to the paper...have you ever colored on paper and there's a lot of white spaces and looks grainy? That's the "tooth" showing up...you have to build up layers to get down into the tooth to get rid of white spaces left behind :)

The "Colorista"I'm Kourtney, and I'm a mother of two litle girls and the wife of a Navy sailor. I review colouring books and products for publishers and art supply companies to give my Coloristas a guide to buying and growing their collections. And of course I love to colour any chance I get (mostly when the kids are asleep!)
