These two books are part of a series introduced by Streetlight Graphics, LLC. Sophisticated and original are two things that come to mind with these two colouring books. The Garden Mandala, their newest release, features 21- one side printed pages with intricate, floral designed mandalas that are incredibly calming to colour, while The Eclectic Owl, presents us with another 21 images of detailed owls ranging from that wide eyed bird we all know and love, to the intense predator of the night. Let's start with their newest release, The Garden Mandala. This book really stuck out to me against all the other mandala books out there because it contains fun backgrounds to colour that compliment the main focus--the mandala--so well. Not to mention I love mandalas created with floral patterns. You can colour the mandala bright and vibrant, and then compliment with a softer background to REALLY make your creation POP! Or you can do just the opposite! The paper is great quality, BUT not very heavy, so markers do bleed through to the back, so keep a sheet of paper in between and you won't ruin the next image. Here's a sneak peak into The Garden Mandala, as well as my first coloured page in the book. (Bare with me, it was my first time ever blending two opposite colours evenly around in a circle LOL, you'll understand when you see) Owls: so regal and wise-looking and some can be just so down-right adorable; yet some can really scare the crap out of you with those HUGE, glaring eyes! Here in The Eclectic Owl, you'll see all kinds of beautifully illustrated owls. Just enough detail to add complexity but not so much that you feel overwhelmed colouring. Each owl is so different and there's not ONE page that looks even slightly similar to another. I loved every single image, I found that I had such a hard time choosing which one to colour, but I was extremely satisfied with the one I picked :) Here's a look into The Eclectic Owl. (Mr. Owl from the Tootsie Pop commercial definitely has a run for his money with these gorgeous owls!) Both books have such beautiful illustrations, my only wish would have been for the paper to be thicker and for the pages to be perforated so you could frame finished pieces. But that doesn't take away from the quality of the book. You can purchase The Garden Mandala and The Eclectic Owl on Amazon. Be sure to check out Streetlight Graphics on Facebook. Let's hope they have more colouring books in store for us! Thank you, Tabatha for sending me these amazing books!

The "Colorista"I'm Kourtney, and I'm a mother of two litle girls and the wife of a Navy sailor. I review colouring books and products for publishers and art supply companies to give my Coloristas a guide to buying and growing their collections. And of course I love to colour any chance I get (mostly when the kids are asleep!)
