LA artist, Lynnda Rakos, introduces her iconic character, Spaceship Betty in her "kids of all ages" colouring book, as well as released her first adult colouring book, Martini Madness, which has gotten quite popular among those who crave mid-century modern art. Her books are truly one of a kind, and she has quite the imagination on her; the perks of a true artist! Were you a "Mad Men' fanatic? Well this colouring book should feed your craving! Classy cocktail parties, retro decor, and of course, many many martini drinks. So perhaps shake (or stir) one up for yourself, grab some pencils (because markers are just a super duper no no in this book---major bleed and piling of the paper), and get to colouring! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of mid-century modern art, BUT I know there's a lot of you out there who do, and this is the book for you; so many images, printed on one side, waiting to be filled in with nostalgic colours (think of your grandma's couch)--dark oranges, golden mustard yellow, deep red, and green-blues! Clean, simple, and not too detailed images make it great for shading practice and allow a person to let loose and not have to banter over the tiny details. Take a look inside the pages! Here's the book where Lynnda in a sense introduces her alter ego, Spaceship Betty, to kids and adults of all ages! If I'm going to be perfectly honest in this review, I liked this book more than Martini Madness, but that's just my personality haha. It's querky, fun, and full of imagination! Betty goes on awesome adventures, gets herself into sticky situations, and her dog Bubblegum is always by her side. I flipped throught the book with my two year old and she was having so much fun looking at the pictures, especially having a blast pointing at 'doggie' and "bee" (that's Betty haha), every time! Paper quality is the same as Martini Madness, but being that it's more geared for kids, that shouldn't really matter, especially since they're printed one sided. It'll make a great gift to the kiddos in your life, or even to the big kid inside of you! Go for a ride on Betty's rocketship and soar through these pages! You can get both her books, Spaceship Betty and Martini Madness on Amazon (a little overpriced for the quality in my opinion) but if you REALLY want it, they're available for purchase! Thank you to Lynnda for sending in her books for review! Here's a little note from her to get to know the artist behind the books! Happy Colouring!

The "Colorista"I'm Kourtney, and I'm a mother of two litle girls and the wife of a Navy sailor. I review colouring books and products for publishers and art supply companies to give my Coloristas a guide to buying and growing their collections. And of course I love to colour any chance I get (mostly when the kids are asleep!)
