Colouring books aren't just for kids anymore. There are more and more of these books being published for us adults and they are taking the world by storm, and they are making a huge impact all over the world! Adults everywhere are colouring, whether it be just for fun, or for therapy purposes.
It all started for me with Johanna Basford and her two books, Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest. In April 2015, a friend shared an article about her on Facebook and as I saw the gorgeous pages, I had to have them immediately! And I did just that! WhEn I got them in the mail 5 days later I was in awe. I've always loved the arts, but a blank page in my sketch book can be quite daunting at times, and creative blocks can be a true struggle. But with colouring, the picture is right there in front of you, and you can make it your own. It gives people who may not be artistically inclined to express their creativity. We bring the colour! If you want purple leaves and a red sky, who's stopping you! We're taking colouring to a whole new level. I love grabbing my favorite book and pencils at the end of the day when the kids are in bed. It's a great way to relax and free your mind (and gets you a better sleep too!)
With the creation of Colour Your World (a push from my husband to start this blog) and growing more popular everyday, I have been able to get into the niche of reviewing colouring books and art products for publishing companies, art supply companies and illustrators, big and small! I have found my calling: To bring you all, my coloristas, trusted reviews so that you know for sure you are buying a quality book or product.
Spread the word about colouring for adults, the greatest way to de-stress from a long day of "adulting," and go back to a time where you didn't have responsibilities, bills, and a job with a demanding boss. Go back to the place where your only worry was spilling your chocolate milk while colouring in your blanket fort.

Michelle Byrne says- "I started coloring about 6 years ago when my first husband died. I found it helped keep my hands and mind occupied. I got away from it for a couple of years but was recently diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I now use it to help manage my panic attacks. And it makes me happy! :)"
Patti Maguire says- "I color to ease anxiety and to try and relax my mind."
Holly Osler says- " Loved coloring as a kid. Saw a post on Facebook about adult coloring books. I didn't know such a thing existed. That was a few months ago and now I color whenever I get a chance. Really does calm my mind and helps me relax!!!"
Gail Leddin says- "It started with a card making class using Copic Markers, then I was invited to join a Facebook group, and so it grew... :)"
Megan McNeely, from Canada, says- "I always loved to color, but moved into creating my own drawings and paintings. I recently moved from Canada to North Carolina to be with my husband who is a marine and found the change and loneliness at times rather stressful. I came across a coloring group and found a great way to reduce anxiety and stress, and meet new people!"
Marcia Huff says- "At the age of 52, I was diagnosed with MCI/Dementia. I found coloring as a way to help me relax and hopefully build brain cells!!"
Bria Fagiolo-Cecero, from Florida, says- "Well let's see...my daughter, Kourtney, became a coloring book reviewer and blogger...and I finally decided to see what all the fuss was all about and now I'm addicted to all things coloring. Thanks Kourtney!" (that's my madre :D)
Abbie Ward says- "I was pregnant with my 4th baby (he's now 15 days old) and my mum bought me a book and pencils; lovely way to de-stress myself. X"
Dina Nizza says- "I was always drawing, coloring, taking art classes. Then, don't know why, but I stopped. Now I work for lawyers so...yeah- coloring to relieve stress!
Shelly Durham says- "My granddaughter loves to color and she asked me to color with her. After a couple of kiddie pictures, I bought an adult book and haven't stopped. I get lost in coloring, no stress, no pain, and I don't even care if sports are on TV. I'd rather color!"
Karina Bond says- "I love gel pens, glitter, lovely designs and art that's doable without buying tons of supplies. Being able to have a glass of wine and watch my favorite show while coloring is a bonus!"
Cheryl Ryshpan says- "Let's see...depression, stress, brain damage, stress, depression, hate medication, love colouring!"
Cheryl Mikel says- "When I was little, my coloring books were the geodesic designs. My parents were hippoes what can I say. I'm so glad to see coloring mainstream for adults, and the benefits it offers."
Nicole MacDonald says- "Depression and anxiety made me start coloring."
Harley Quinn says- "I have colored off and on all my life, but things changed 7 months ago when I suffered a neck injury. Coloring helped with the pain and also helped keep me from having to take medication and made it easier to recover. Now I can't stop coloring!"
Deidra Acosta says- "Being an emergency dispatcher I have lots of stress and pressure to do my job perfectly since there is no margin for errors. Coloring helps tremendously.
Noelle Hall, age 50 from Australia says- "I am 50, live in Australia and also am very new to this craft. I started in late June when my mother passed away and I love it. I use it as my special time to sit and think of mum. I also love Johanna Basford as my eldest daughter's name is Johanna. Must be meant to be. Happy colouring!"
Tonya Gerhardt from Graham, TX says- "I've always loved to color, but you grow up and you get busy with life and you stop coloring. I started seeing some great geometric color pages and I started coloring them with Paper Mate Flair felt tip pens. Now I color to decompress after a stressful day in the microbiology lab."
Tami Root Herzberg says- "I started coloring as a type of meditation for my illness. It has a calming effect as I concentrate on the colors to use and the result when I am done. I have always been crafty and colorful so this was right down my alley."
