These two products (I thought) would make for a great review together, as one is more artist grade and a bit more expensive while the other is way more affordable. Red packaged Faber-Castell products are marketed towards kids, while their infamous green/blue packaging is always going to be the higher artist quality and more expensive. But hey, who doesn't love using "kids" products. And who are we kidding...Everything by Faber-Castell is great quality! So here I am to show you both ends of the spectrum!

Adult colouring really came to the spotlight because of this "Queen of Ink" right here, Johanna Basford and her fabulous, intricate colouring books, Enchanted Forest and Secret Garden (along with all of her other products!) She takes you on a journey through an inky wonderland filled with flowers, leaves (SO MANY LEAVES!), and enchanting, woodland animals; pages waiting to be filled with lots of colour! These are by far my absolute favorite books to colour in and I'm here to show you all what Johanna has created for us coloristas, as well as show you that colouring in the lines isn't the only thing you can do with these books! Daria Song, the talent behind the gorgeous colouring book, The Time Garden, lived in San Francisco for a time before moving back to Korea. This book is based off of some of her adventures while in a "far off place". The Time Garden follows the story of a little girl who's father bought a cuckoo clock, but it was no ordinary clock. The little girl swore she saw a fairy turning the gears! And so her adventure began: The chase after the fairy from the cuckoo clock that took the little girl to magical places! Are you up for the chase?! If you're a fan of Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest, then you're going to LOVE this new colouring book that's been brought to the states, which will be published by St. Martin's Press and released September 29th! Aiko Fukawa, a Japanese illustrator, creates art for advertisements, book covers, stationery, magazines, children's picture books, and lastly the gorgeous Four Seasons: A Coloring Book!
As seen on TV, Colorama Coloring Book is a new product out on the market, featuring everything from mandalas and paisley patterns to flower bouquets and butterflies. Advertised as a great way to melt stress away for all ages with over 100 designs to colour in, Colorama is a decent quality book. The paper is bright white, however its not very thick so be careful with bleed through from markers. Each page is also perforated, making it great to remove and frame and give as gift (or keep for yourself and hang on the wall). The pencils that come with it are double ended with two different colours (6 pencils, 12 colours). While they feel a bit cheap, they have fun designs on them and the pigment actually isn't too bad. I expected them to look worse than Rose Art, but they're much smoother and have a nice pigment and were better than I thought they were going to be.
This series of colouring books has a vast array of themes that can cater to anyone's desires when it come to what people like to colour. Patterns, flowers, trapeze artists, monkey mermaids, and even a mid-modern century trilogy! Grab one or all NINE books that have fun images to colour, along with the signature perforated pages to easily tear out and frame!

The "Colorista"I'm Kourtney, and I'm a mother of two litle girls and the wife of a Navy sailor. I review colouring books and products for publishers and art supply companies to give my Coloristas a guide to buying and growing their collections. And of course I love to colour any chance I get (mostly when the kids are asleep!)
