Colour Your World is bringing something different to the table. Erin Moss, a talented illustrator and painter, has shared with me one of her many creations. Her lovely hand painted teacups! But wait, it's also a candle! Made from 100% soy wax, once the candle burns out, just simply hand wash (no dishwasher) and its ready to be used for tea, coffee, or any hot drink you desire. I can see me having a many colouring nights with this cup by my side full of delicious vanilla chai! Ironic because the flavor she made my candle was vanilla scented, my absolute favorite. And obviously the fox is what drew me in to her Twitter profile, how I found Erin in the first place. The quality of her work just explodes with love and care and the talent it takes to make such wonderful illustrations on such an odd shaped surface! Just look at the craftsmanship! Three new colouring books just released on May 7th by Phoenix Yard, a UK based publisher, features lovely, detailed illustrations to colour in. Great quality books in a convenient size with a vast variety of themes to name a few that include animals, flowers, zentangles, city-scapes and so much more! Streetlight Graphics brings you the third and fourth books to their Eclectic colouring book series! Let your imagination take flight and soar through the skies in Whimsical Wings or zen out with abstract designs in The Eclectic Geometric. Printed on one side, with decent quality paper and fun images to colour, you need to add these to your Eclectic collection! Artist Kimberly Garvey, while has created endless quilt-like patterned paintings and designs, has illustrated her first colouring book, Strange Designs. Her doodles are fun and quirky, as well as stress relieving. You'll find aspects of nature (palm trees being my favorite motif in her book) mixed into a zentangle type theme. Her book could provide endless hours of colouring in with the 36 designs. Give them life with bold, vibrant colours, but be sure to slip a piece of paper between pages (as she well instructs on the first page) as markers will bleed through. Luckily they are only one-sided prints, a common liked interest within the adult colouring community. Seems like more artists are listening :) My only tiff with the book was all the blackened parts. I would've loved for them to be left white, leaving more room for colour. I had one of the girls from my colouring club colour in this one (I just went back and touched it up with some layering and blending). She LOVED it when I had it displayed at our first get together. It was her first colouring in as an adult and was coloured so nicely (I simply just gave it a bit of Colour Your World love) Lets get weird with these playful illustrations by Kimberly! Her colouring pages are continuously popping up more and more within the colouring groups across facebook, including the group that I created! It's becoming quite popular among the adult colouring world! So pop on over to Kimberly's website where you can watch a video of the book and be sure to take a look at her other works of art. You can purchase Strange Designs here, on Amazon. Thank you to Kimberly for sending me her lovely book for review!
Happy Colouring! Reviewed by Kourtney Ann Ferro I had the amazing opportunity to review these gorgeous markers from Tombow USA. They sent me the Bright palette set and the Secondary palette set. Each set came with 10 pens-- 9 colours and 1 colourless blender. There were only two markers that were the same, so I had a total of 16 different colours to work with, which is plenty given the endless possibilities with shading and blending different colours together! |
The "Colorista"I'm Kourtney, and I'm a mother of two litle girls and the wife of a Navy sailor. I review colouring books and products for publishers and art supply companies to give my Coloristas a guide to buying and growing their collections. And of course I love to colour any chance I get (mostly when the kids are asleep!)
